About the Team The TikTok Global Live Foundation Governance Engineering team is a global team responsible for ensuring the quality of live streaming content. It takes on the responsibility of building the backend system, collaborating with data scientists, ecosystem governance managers, the operations team, and the Trust & Safety Algorithm team. Together, we develop human-based and machine-based moderation, the penalty center, and permission governance tools to ensure our content is high quality and enjoyable to our users worldwide.

Responsibilities
- Partner with product managers, data scientists, UI designers, and other engineers to iterate on data-driven initiatives across content moderation, penalty, and relevant governance systems.
- Design and evolve backend system architecture to ensure service reliability, performance, and scalability at TikTok Global Live traffic scale.
- Own end-to-end delivery of backend features, from requirements analysis and technical design through production rollout, monitoring, and iteration.
- Drive technical decisions on complex, ambiguous problems and continuously raise the engineering bar for code quality, testing, and operational excellence.
- Mentor other engineers and share your expertise, experience, and perspectives to strengthen the team's technical capability.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Individuals who are completing or have recently completed a Bachelor's/ Master's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
- Strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms, proficient in at least one coding language, including but not limited to Go, Java, Python, C++.
- Curiosity towards new technology and outstanding ability to analyze and solve problems.
- Solid grasp of software engineering fundamentals and a proven track record of building scalable, extensible, and maintainable backend systems in production.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience building or integrating AI/LLM-powered applications, such as agentic workflow, RAG, MCP, and prompt engineering, or model evaluation pipelines.
- Understanding of concurrency, database, and message queue.
- Experience with content moderation systems, including human review workflows and machine-based moderation pipelines.
- Experience working on Trust & Safety, ecosystem governance, or policy enforcement platforms.
- Familiarity with compliance and regulatory frameworks relevant to online platforms (e.g., DSA, COPPA, GDPR, or regional content policy requirements).
